- Frequently Asked Questions -

Is your farm a co-op?
This question has come up rather frequently due to the name of the farm: Stone Coop Farm.  The farm's namesake Stone Coop Farm is actually a large, stone chicken coop (hence Stone Coop, not co-op) built in the 1880s at what is now Hamburg Fitness Center, where we started the farm in 2011.  Aside from housing chickens, the coop itself has served many purposes over the years, including camp dormitories and bathrooms.  To answer the question directly, we are a CSA, not a co-op.
Stone Coop
This is the stone building that was used as a chicken coop years ago.  You can see in the red square where the openings for the chickens to get in and out were located and have been filled in with stones.   You can also see the seams in the structure where buildings were added on to each end.

What does CSA stand for?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  CSA members pay for a season of produce before the season begins.  In return, members get a share of fresh and healthy vegetables.  When you purchase a Stone Coop Farm membership, you are allowing us to purchase seeds, equipment, and supplies when we need it the most: before the harvest.  This membership lets you get to know your farmers, see your food grow and ripen, be in tune with the weather and impact on the crops, and perhaps even get your hands dirty by helping us on the farm.  This direct access to your food is impossible to obtain from the store.

Is Stone Coop Farm LLC a Certified Organic Farm?
Yes! We have been a Certified Organic Farm since 2011.  Each year we are re-certified through OEFFA.

When can I purchase my share?
Shares are now available for purchase.  We have two different types of memberships, so please see one of the below links to find the right type of share for you and your family:
Market Shares
Working Shares

Can I purchase another Market Share if I use all of my funds before the end of the season?
Once you buy a Market Share, you can just deposit additional money when you run out.  These funds must be used before our last market in December.  They do NOT carry over to the next year.

When do my Market Share funds expire?
The Market Share memberships are good from the date it is purchased until the last market in December of the calendar year the share is purchased.  Market Share funds do not carry over to the next year.

Can I still buy produce from the farm even if I don't have a share?
Of course!  During the Farmers' Market season, produce is available for purchase at the farm as well as the Brighton Farmers' Market.  In the winter, customers may buy produce through our online sales.

Will eggs be available?
Eggs are available for purchase at our Wednesday and Saturday Farmer's Markets..
